Be Giving
“And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man’s heart.” (Psalm 104:15 KJV)
When we partake in the body and blood of Christ, we do so as a community. We “break the bread”, signifying that Christ and all his blessings are to be shared by the community. Therefore, we need to ensure that our brothers and sisters in Christ are getting their fair share.
Paul confronted the Corinthian Christians because they ate their common meal selfishly, each one taking whatever he could without any regard for others. This went against Jesus’ teachings. Paul reminded the Corinthians to be considerate of others when sharing in the common meal.
In 1 Corinthians 11:28-29, it is written:
“Let a man examine himself, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For any one who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment upon himself”
