Let the Spirit of God Dominate
Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. (Romans 8:7)
There is an African proverb saying, “It is hard to cure the madness that originates in the family.” There are things that we have no control over. The entire human family has a special condition called the natural state. Being in the natural state, we succumb to the desires and the appetites that fuel our physical, mortal bodies.
As humans, we are susceptible to being weak. Especially with our carnal minds. Human nature dictates to us our needs and our wants. We are subject to pain, therefore, our carnal mind tells us to look for relief. We are subject to hunger, therefore, we seek food. We are subject to cold and heat, and therefore seek shelter. These are natural acts of survival that will enable us to survive. The law of God enables us to live the best kind of life, not merely seeking something that our natural mind aims to pleasure and satisfy itself with.
We grow to find solutions to different problems we come across. We gain power and knowledge through experience. There is no one way of doing things, but a million more ways to live differently and do things in God’s name. We glorify the Father when we put off our carnal state. Instead of spending, we give our tithes. Instead of indulging, we fast and pray. These are things which will lead us closer to feel heaven’s warmth.
So take a pause. Do not immediately give in to the immediate solutions our carnal minds present us with, but pause to think, what would Jesus do? What would God have us do? We will feel a sense of worthiness as we continue to grace our lives with the influence of God. The Spirit of God is here with us to make us pick the right choices and help us on the path that leads us back home.
